Marvellous Merry Markets and Mincemeat

This week I thought I’d focus on the blooming great Christmas market trade, a fabulous occasion to pick up something different, unique and festive. But not only that, it’s a great time for communities and groups to really come together and create some festive vibes.

A small selection of my favourites...

Hyper Japan is back this November at the event epicentre that is Tobacco Dock, with a Christmas market celebrating Japanese culture and cuisine at its best. Browse stalls selling fashion goods, toys, wrapping paper, traditional tableware and crockery, then pick up edible presents in a food hall packed full of exotic ...

It is with great pride that I write my first blog as General Manager for Inn Or Out Events.

Christmas – just how you want it.

Christmas is only five weeks away. With our recent bout of warm weather, I feel tricked into thinking that we still have some time to go.

I really look forward to this time in the year, from a feast perspective, because for me the excitement has always been in the planning, what kind of cuisine will it be, traditional, seafood or barbe
que?  Will it be a large crowd, our little family or a bit of both?

I was not raised in a traditional Christmas dinner household with turkey and all the trimmings. Our Christmas consisted of seafood or ‘steam boats’ (Steam boat ...

Saturday Night Curry

I adore Indian food, and it has been a staple part of my diet since I was a child. Growing up near Tooting I was lucky enough to be able to explore the many incredible varieties of Indian cuisine at its multitude of restaurants and canteens…from Masala Dosa, to Gulab Jamun, Bhel Puri to Momo’s.

As I grew up, learning to master the art of a cooking a curry from scratch at home was pretty high on my agenda. I spent hours trawling the local Indian supermarkets, basket laden with all sorts of colourful spices and unknown ingredients. I read and ...

Canada is open for business

A group of like minded foodies met at the Canadian High Commission last week under the banner of the Fifty Twenty Group. This group is made of key industry food, beverage operators and suppliers ranging from the originator of Wagamamas, to leading industry wine suppliers and other recognised high street branded food operators. They all gathered at the Canadian High Commission to hear a talk from legendary restaurateur Luke Johnson who recently floated Patisserie Valerie amongst other plaudits. This event is a monthly gathering in different venues around London and is a great opportunity to network and meet some serious ...

What makes a great event?

That incredible moment you decide to hold an event - often an uncharted world that sounds like so much fun – when in reality events are only truly a great success when they are organised to within an inch of their lives. I’ve cooked and held a few events over the years but it’s not my day job. In fact I’m just not capable of covering so many bases and delivering in equal measure so tend to leave it to the professionals like Inn Or Out.

There are folk out there that can organise and deliver the most incredible events and ...

What the difference in a 5* makes

Last week, for various reasons, I had to go to a number of 5* hotels. What was interesting is that although all were top hotels along Park Lane, there was a considerable variable in service standards but all elite experiences. It was a salutary lesson in that no matter what - It is our team that represent the brand in reality, something we at Inn or Out events are acutely aware of.

It made me wonder how, no matter what is spent on the fabric, the facility and the position, i.e. view or historic building, how these businesses cannot see it ...

Party Designer in the making…

This week I wanted to share with everyone the experience of organising my first event, which took place in London last night. The event was a networking evening for Women In Facilities Management to promote the concept of 'feeding the mind, and not just the body'. The idea looks into how being more conscious about what you eat could have an affect on your energy levels throughout the day.

PLANNING: I came to realise that the initial planning is the most important thing!.. the more you cover in advance, the less chasing up you have to do later on. Through going to ...

The signature three…

Following a successful launch party at our Inn or Out headquarters, the “signature” cocktails that were designed especially for the occasion blew me away.

Served from our custom made Inn or Out cocktail bar, the cocktails were one of the highlights of the evening, as I’m sure most guests would agree.

The signature three were “Fig and Cassis Swizzle”, “Cucumber and Mint Sour” and "Pear and Cardamom Cooler". All had their unique flavours and were decorative showstoppers.

Firstly, the Fig and Cassis were chosen for their autumnal feel. The warming blend of cognac and fig, gave a warmth boost should the evening have ...

Glitz, Glamour and Full Speed Ahead… The launch of Inn or Out Events’ new offices

I couldn't be prouder of team, what a fantastic evening was had by all with the re-launch of Inn or Out Events and the opening of our brand new kitchen, office and production unit.

Along with the sparkle, glitz and glamour it was great to have Adam Byatt (of the famous Trinity restaurant) present, as our newly announced consultant chef. We are very excited about this new venture so watch this space and look out for his blogs.

The evening was full of gorgeous cocktails and I love the fact that our Fig and Cassis Swizzle perfectly our marketing directors dress! Fabulous food ...
