My top 5 Christmas visit list

London is getting more exhilarating by the minute! I don’t know about you, but I’m really starting to feel excited about Christmas. This annual holiday where one has plenty to discover and explore, is also the perfect time to catch up with friends, unwind and share great food.  It really is a foodie’s ideal holiday.

One thing I’ve been inspired to do this year is to check out the fantastic Christmas Markets that are happening in this amazing city. There is something for everyone at Christmas Markets. Be it shopping, dining, a show or Father Christmas Grotto. All ages are catered for. So without further ado, here are my 5 top hot “to do’s” that I intend to visit and hopefully you will like the sound of them too.1-hyde-park_rink_cnt_1nov11_pr_b_426x284

  • Leicester Square Christmas Market

This is a new one this year and being bang in the centre of town creates a good meeting point for those who travel from further afield. There is a Santa’s Grotto alongside shows and Christmas Markets all enclosed in a central venue.

Running from Friday 11th November – 8th January 2017.

Nearest tube: Leicester Square

  • Southbank centre Christmas Market

Being part of the Southbank Winter Festival, there are lots to do and eat! From hog roasts to candy floss. A stroll by the scenic river makes a great family day out for everyone. Why not check out these wooden chalets.

Running from the 11th November 2016 – 8th January 2017.

Nearest tube: Waterloo StationEmbankment Underground Station

  • East Village Christmas ‘Hygge’ market E20

This market is themed after the Danish art of ‘living cosy’.  Here is an opportunity to craft your own butter knife out of reclaimed wood, or to make your own Christmas wreath, and lots of Scandi retailers which provide an authentic winter experience.

Held on the weekends, a must to visit from 26th November  – 11th December.

Nearest tube: Stratford Station

  • Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

This is a must for all the family, it simply has so much to do. Whilst it is free to enter, be prepared to have sufficient cash to buy tokens for rides and the large plethora of food stalls on offer which will be difficult to resist.

Running from 18th November  –  2nd January.

Nearest tube: Knightsbridge Station

  •  Free from Christmas Festival 2016

This one is not strictly a Christmas Market, but is definitely on my hot list as I have been increasingly conscious of the ‘healthiness component ’ of being a foodie and really look forward to tasting some gluten and free from goodies.

Running on 17th – 18th December

Wishing you a fun and festive season!

Until next time…
