Marvellous Merry Markets and Mincemeat
This week I thought I’d focus on the blooming great Christmas market trade, a fabulous occasion to pick up something different, unique and festive. But not only that, it’s a great time for communities and groups to really come together and create some festive vibes.
A small selection of my favourites…
Hyper Japan is back this November at the event epicentre that is Tobacco Dock, with a Christmas market celebrating Japanese culture and cuisine at its best. Browse stalls selling fashion goods, toys, wrapping paper, traditional tableware and crockery, then pick up edible presents in a food hall packed full of exotic teas, chocolate, Japanese snacks and sake. The event will also host the Sushi Awards 2015 and the inaugural Sake Cocktail Awards, and there’ll be interactive demonstrations.
Also starring this year is the Fair Christmas Fayre at Regent Hall, Oxford Street with Christmas consumerism minus the guilt at this annual fair selling ethical gift. Traders will bring a tempting selection of Fairtrade, handmade, eco and vintage items that you can snap up to make your home more festive or to give to loved ones workshops such as Ippudo’s ramen cooking session.
Kawaiicore music group Lady Baby will make their European debut and there’ll be heaps of anime, manga, cosplay and Kawaii fashion to wow the crowds.come the big day.
It’s not only in the big city that we find these gems, Deepdale Christmas market on the effervescent north Norfolk coast. A delicious part of the world if you have not managed to walk its long coastal beaches, it’s one for the bucket list.
The 7th annual Deepdale Christmas Market will host 100+ stalls, entertainment and activities. They will be joined by stalls of local artisans and producers in 3 large marquees.
