An evening at Henley Festival
This week myself and our managing director Sean were lucky enough entertain a small group of our clients at the prestigious Henley Festival, on the banks of the River Thames.
Basking in a beautiful evening sun, and dressed in our finest evening wear, Sean and I awaited guests arrival to the car park meeting point, armed with chilled champagne & nibbles and our group made its way into the festival site.
Once inside we leisurely wandered the festival site enjoying the myriad of performance artists, gallery spaces and sculptures on offer.
As the sun started to wane we made our way to the Roux ‘Riverside Restaurant’ for dinner. Being greeted by Albert & Michel Roux Junior was a treat we really weren’t expecting! But what a treat indeed.
As I am sure those of you reading this know I am a HUGE food lover, so when I was offered the opportunity to have my photo taken between two chefs I have long admired, I flung myself at the chance!
Seats were taken at our table, where we all delighted in choosing what to eat from a delectable seasonal menu.
After much deliberation I opted for…
Spiced buratta, grilled peach, shaved fennel salad, arberquina oil
Roast fillet of beef, lapsang souchong tea consommé, jardinière of vegetables
Coloumiers, dartois of preserved fig, port glaze, salad of celery and watercress
I thoroughly enjoyed each dish. Ingredients were considered and well balanced. And the accompanying wines the perfect compliment.
Following our main course, and armed with a jug of Pimms (thanks Hire Space!) we moved to our seats in the grandstand for Jessie J. It was one and a half hours of brilliant performance, boy does she have some pipes on her!
By the end of the show we were all out of our seats and dancing!
Michel Roux Junior even paid us a second visit just before we left to ask whether we had all enjoyed the meal. It was of course a resounding YES! And then back to our table to end the evening with pudding, coffee and one final glass of champagne for the road.
A lovely personal touch I thought.
I am sure our guests will agree when I say it was a fantastic opportunity to connect with one another outside of the work environment. We all let our hair down a wee bit and most definitely had a giggle.
All in all an enchanting evening!
Until next time…
